I've never done a features journal before, so here are some of my recent favorites. Most of them are colorful paintings, but there are a few pencil drawings as well.

Art PlansIt's a grey Sunday and I thought to write down some of the artwork ideas I have. I have two sketchbooks and two notebooks for ideas, but I'll just list a few of the most recent art ideas.
First a bit about finished paintings though. I finished a new painting called Turban Girl just yesterday evening while watching some movies. (My recent favorite has been the Beck series, but I can't watch that while painting, my Swedish isn't good enough to understand the movies without reading the subtitles.) In January I revamped an old painting and renamed it Holi. Progress photos of both of them are up on my blog: Turban Girl & Holi . And I also made some abstract watercolor paintings with my niece recently just for fun:

Pretty Little Liars Fan Art + FREEBIES
As Pretty Little Liars season 7b was about to start, I thought it was a good time to make some PLL fan art in April. I painted Alison DiLaurentis from season 4 episode 19 Shadow Play, Emily Fields and Spencer Hastings from season 6 prom episode 9 Last Dance and Hanna Marin from season 4 Ravenswood Halloween Special episode 13 Grave New World. I was set on making four paintings and since I really wanted to paint Ali from the black and white episode, I unfortunately left Aria out. I combined all four paintings into a quick speed painting video, but I'm also posting a longer version of each painting with commentary about the process. So far, you
Charcoal Acrylic Painting + Art Feature
I saw this idea of painting acrylic over a charcoal drawing in a book with tips for acrylic painters. It said to the sketch in charcoal, blow the excess charcoal dust away and then to paint a thin layer of acrylic over it so that the drawing will show through. And then you can paint some parts thicker and add more charcoal on top to make the painting more lively.
I tried it and had issues with the charcoal blending into the acrylic paint at first, but sealing the charcoal with fixative and matte medium worked better for me. Here's a speed painting video of my charcoal acrylic painting process, if you're interested.

How to Use Water Soluble Chalk Pastels
I've used water soluble colored pencils before, but I recently realized I have a set of water soluble pastel chalks, too. You can draw with them as with any soft pastels or chalks and then blend them out with a wet brush to create a watercolor-like painting. You can build the colors by going back and forth with chalk and water and finally add a few touches of chalk without water to give the painting some texture. Here's a video of a quick, little demo landscape with pastel chalks.
SOFT PASTEL AND CHALK ART FEATURE
Here's a selection of wonderful and inspiring pastel and chalk art by different artists. Some are mixed media works with watercol
How to Use Water Mixable Oils
I love the vibrant colors of acrylics, but I can never get them to blend as smoothly as I'd like. That's why I wanted to test out oils. To avoid the solvents etc., I went for water mixable oils. If you're curious about water mixable oils, here's a video on my first impression.
OIL PAINTING FEATURE
Some gorgeous oil paintings from my favorites. I don't know if any of these are painted with water mixable oils or if they're all traditional oils.
